This game looks great. From the screenshots in the Official PS2 Mag (UK), it seems they've managed to shrink down the whole of Liberty City Stories onto the PSP (although it's not as pretty as the origional). It's set 3 years before GTA3 and you play as Toni Cipriani. Who's getting this game? Me. I haven't been able to find any of the REAL screenshots on the net.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PlayStation Portable is Rockstar's second PSP game. You will play as Tony Cipriani in the year 1998. Cipriani is fresh back in the city after laying low for a while, having offered a fellow mobster a favor for Don Salvatore Leone. The grateful Salvatore puts you straight back to work.

Tony Cipriani in GTA III

The game made an appearance at E3 2005, but it was only shown to certain magazine publications. One publication from each country was shown the game. I am not sure which countries/continents were included, but my best guesses are the USA, the UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, France and others.

Here is a bulleted list of what we know:

You will play as Tony Cipriani, voiced by Michael Madsen

Takes place in 1998 in Liberty City

Will only come out on the PSP and will never be released on anything else

The map is basically the same as we saw in GTA III, but Shoreside Vale is almost twice as big this time around! It curls up to be above Staunton Island on the map.

Toni will be able to shoot out tires, change clothes and bail from cars just like in Vice City and San Andreas.

The storyline will be as long as the one in Vice City.

There is a casino in St. Marks owned by the Leone's.

The graphics are better than those in GTA III.

There will be no planes or helicopters.

Unique jumps and hidden packages will be in the game.

Better draw distance than that of GTA III as well as car reflections will be included.

In screenshots that I saw, I spotted Punk Noodles, the back steps of Luigi's Club, Salvatore's mansion, a bridge in Shoreside Vale, a PCJ-600, the same model of Police cars from GTA III, a sniper rifle, an Esperanto, a Swat Truck and more!

Luigi's Sex Club 7 has been renamed to Paulie's Revue Pad for the era. Some buildings have been altered from 2001's GTA III to better represent the era.

Rockstar said that "it's benefitted from improvements in Vice City and San Andreas."

Rockstar handed out small microfiber objects at E3 to clean your PSP screen, perfect for the new game:

The promotional poster shows buildings in the background just barely (opacity maybe 10%)

Posters with the blue background, chopper and transparent building skyline were only put up inside the busses at E3 and on walls around Los Angeles

Looks pretty cool. Although I don't plan on buying the Pointless S****y Portable.

That is obviously a comlete lie as Rockstar games always say that, They said the same with Vice City which eventually came out on X-Box & PC. (San Andreas is different that was always intended for eventual release on other consoles just delayed.)

I doubt it. It would take quite a bit of work to redo the graphics and make it console friendly. It will certainly have the benefits of improvements seen in Vice City and San Andreas, but it wont be any furthur features wise. I'm pretty sure all that info in that planetGTA quote was taken from the UK PS2 mag article which has the word from R* themselves.

I'm pretty sure Rockstar are alreay working on the next GTA for console/PC. It'll probably be for the next gens.

The GTA game sounds pretty good but I dont plan on buying a PSP, I'd rather save the money for a PS3

Totally agree with Jay. Why buy a PSP when I already own a PS2 Console and with the PS3 coming out it would only make sense to buy that over the PSP
